Almeta Crawford High School is one of the newer Fort Bend ISD campuses, and its name shows up often when people research homes in and around Sienna. The short version: living in Sienna, near Sienna or close to the campus does not make a home a Crawford home, and neither does a Rosharon mailing address. Who the School Is Named For

The campus carries the name of Almeta Crawford, a longtime Fort Bend ISD educator. The school’s own website describes her as an educator who served for 49 years, 39 of them with the district, including more than 30 years at Dulles High School, where she was named Teacher of the Year. A Rosharon Mailing Address and a Sienna Search

The campus mailing address says Rosharon, yet the school comes up constantly in Sienna home searches. Fort Bend ISD’s school profile explains why: it describes Crawford as serving students in parts of Sienna, Rosharon and Fresno. The important word is parts. Some Sienna addresses are assigned to Crawford and others are not, and a home’s village, section, street or ZIP code does not settle the question.

Keep two things separate here. A postal city is a mailing designation. It does not tell you a property’s city limits, ETJ status, utility district or which school it is assigned to, and the same is true for the campus itself. You will also see the Crawford name in listing remarks, MLS school fields, builder materials, neighborhood pages and conversations with neighbors. Those are reasons to check, not answers. The only reliable answer for a specific house comes from Fort Bend ISD’s address lookup for the school year you care about.

How to Check Whether a Specific Home Is Assigned to Crawford

  1. Use the full property address. Enter the exact street address, not the subdivision, village or section name.
  2. Check the current school year. Use Fort Bend ISD’s 26-27 School Locator for this year’s assignment.
  3. Check the approved 2027-28 assignment. Open Fort Bend ISD’s Boundary Planning and Enrollment Management page and use the 2027-2028 School Locator map linked there.
  4. Compare the two results. If they differ, note which school year applies to your move or your lease.
  5. Save a dated record. A screenshot or note with the date you checked is useful if anything changes later.

  7. Check transportation separately. Bus eligibility depends on the address and route, so look it up with the district’s Bus Route Locator.

It also helps to confirm the property is in Fort Bend ISD in the first place. The Fort Bend Central Appraisal District property search shows the taxing units on the property’s record, including the school district.

Current School Year and the Approved 2027-28 Boundaries

Fort Bend ISD’s Board approved new middle school and high school attendance boundaries on October 5, 2026, effective for the 2027-28 school year, according to the district’s news release. That means a home can have one assignment for the current school year and a different one for 2027-28.

For Crawford research, that comes down to a simple habit: look up the address in both tools and keep the results separate. Don’t assume that a home assigned to Crawford this year will be assigned to it next year, or the reverse. Boundaries can also change again in future planning cycles, so the result you get today is a current fact about that address, not a permanent one.

Why a Village Name, an MLS Field or a Short Drive Is Not Verification

  • MLS school fields are entered by people, can be copied from older listings and are not checked against the district’s current boundaries. They are a starting point at best.
  • Builder and community marketing may name nearby schools without saying which addresses are assigned to them, and it may not reflect the latest boundary decisions.
  • Village and section names do not line up with attendance boundaries. Two homes in the same village can be assigned to different campuses.
  • Being close to the campus does not decide assignment. A home near Crawford can be assigned elsewhere, and a home farther away can be assigned to it.
  • Older articles and web pages, including feeder lists by neighborhood, can be out of date the moment a boundary changes.

None of these replaces an address lookup with Fort Bend ISD.

What Buyers Should Check During a Purchase

If being in the Crawford attendance zone is part of your search, treat it like any other property fact you verify before you are committed.

  • Run both the current-year and 2027-28 lookups on the exact address before you make an offer, and again before your option period ends.
  • Read the MLS school field and listing remarks, but don’t rely on them.
  • If your plans depend on a particular campus, decide before the option period ends what you would do if the district’s answer is different from what you expected.

What Tenants Should Check Before Signing a Lease

A lease is a shorter commitment, but school timing matters just as much. Before you sign:

  • Look up the rental’s exact address for the school year your lease covers. If the lease runs into 2027-28, check the approved 2027-28 locator too.
  • Don’t rely on the rental listing or an owner’s description of the school. Verify it yourself.
  • Ask the district what residency documents it accepts for enrollment so you can line up your lease and move-in date with registration.

What Sellers and Owners Should Say About School Assignment

If you are selling or leasing out a home, you can mention schools, but describe them in a way that sends people to the official source rather than promising an assignment. Wording like “Buyers should verify school assignment for this address with Fort Bend ISD” is accurate and protects everyone. Avoid statements like “zoned to Crawford” in marketing unless you have just verified the address for the relevant school year, and even then, encourage buyers and tenants to confirm it themselves. School assignment may matter a great deal to one buyer and not at all to another, so it should be verified for the exact property before anyone relies on it. Programs, Academies and Transfers Are Separate Questions

Which campus an address is assigned to is one question. Which programs a student can apply to is another. Fort Bend ISD runs its high school academies as district programs with their own application process, and each academy has a host campus. Check the Fort Bend ISD Academies page for current programs and locations rather than assuming a program is offered at the school a home is zoned to. Transfers between campuses follow district policy, so take any transfer question to the Student Transfer Information Center.
